ATTENTION METRA AND AMTRAK COMMUTERS

As of Friday, September 26, 2014, at 10:00 A.M., Metra and Amtrak passenger rail services for Joliet relocated from the existing Joliet Union Station Platforms to the newly constructed platforms for the Joliet Gateway Center.

Metra and Amtrak ticket offices have also relocated out of Union Station into temporary facilities. The temporary Metra ticket office is located on the east side of Mayor Art Schultz Drive (Michigan St.) just south of Jefferson Street. Metra ticket agent hours are M-F from 4:30 am to 12:30 pm. The temporary Amtrak ticket office is located on the northwest corner of Mayor Art Schultz Drive (Michigan St.) and Jefferson Street. Amtrak ticket agent hours are M-F 5:15 am to 3:00 pm, Sat-Sun 7:30 am to 3:00pm. In addition to the ticketing hours, the trailer will be open as a waiting room with a Security Guard onsite until 11:00 pm daily. Amtrak offers a motorized transport to the top of the ramp during the ticket agent hours, to assist patrons with disabilities. Travelers needing this service are encouraged to schedule their arrival and departure times during ticket agent hours.

The existing Union Station tunnel will be open Monday thru Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

MAYOR ART SCHULTZ DRIVE CLOSED BETWEEN JEFFERSON AND WASHINGTON STREETS BEGINNING MONDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2016
As part of the continued work on the Joliet Gateway Center transportation campus, southbound Mayor Art Schultz Drive (Michigan Street), between Jefferson Street and Washington Street, will be closed for construction of the new train station, beginning Monday, October 3, 2016.

One way northbound Mayor Art Schultz Drive, from Washington Street to the alley, will remain open to allow continued access to the temporary Metra ticket trailer. This area can NOT be blocked by vehicles for drop off or pick up. Please utilize short term parking within the available parking spaces only. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and seek alternate routes, if possible, when traveling in the area.  It is anticipated that this work will be completed by December 2017.

MAYOR ART SCHULTZ DRIVE CLOSED BETWEEN CLINTON AND VAN BUREN STREETS BEGINNING MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2016
As part of the continued work on the Joliet Gateway Center transportation campus, Mayor Art Schultz Drive (Michigan Street), between Clinton Street and Van Buren Street, will be closed for construction of the Heritage Corridor platform, beginning Monday, September 19, 2016. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and seek alternate routes when traveling in the area. This closure will remain in place until the new train station and new Heritage Corridor platform are completed and open to the public.

Temporary Heritage Corridor Boarding Accessibility
A temporary boarding facility has been constructed to access the Heritage Corridor commuter rail services as a safety measure during construction of the permanent platform and new train station. This temporary facility separates passenger boarding activities from the majority of railroad construction activities. It includes an ADA compliant ramp and a wheel chair lift available at track level to assist in boarding trains. Please note that all permanent platform facilities will be constructed with a platform height of eight inches above top of rail. The Permanent Heritage Corridor Platform will be constructed as an island platform accessed via tunnels. Platform accessibility will be provided via elevators.
